Thank you. I'm definitely asking for Bloody Mary mix next time we reach cruising altitude

What a great expose on tomato juice! I will offer another theory: availability, convenient size and it's already chilled. Most of us forget all about buying tomato juice as an everyday consumable. Buying a large can means wasting a lot of it; small cans are great but more expensive. BUT on a plane fight, not only are you being served, the tomato juice is perfectly chilled. I guarantee if they offered V-8 or Bloody Mary mix, those would be the most popular choices. I love tomato juice and more so, Bloody Mary's; I'm the cabana boy for our extended family on vacations to Siesta Key, so it's my job to get the lounge chairs in place and put up the umbrellas which must be done before 7:00 am EST or there won't be any chairs left. So as that is my contribution, I make it less painful by taking a jug of Bloody Mary's (don't forget to add horseradish!) with me, and my old Grundig Yacht Boy radio; I dial in classical music on the local NPR station and I sip peacefully for several hours before the hordes (mine and other's) arrive. And one last shout out; the 1st time I ever had a Bloody Mary was in a bar in West Lafayette, Indiana, (Purdue University, at Christmas time) on a date with a beautiful blonde pharmacy student, named Candace Pearson (I mean how can any 20 year old boy resist a girl called "Candy?"). I was trying to appear sophisticated, but she saw through that.
